Shannon White has been missing from Kamloops for 1,000 days and her story continues to be shared online with local searchers not slowing down in looking for her.

White has been missing since Nov.1, 2021 when she failed to show up for a shift at her job at Kamloops Hyundai. Her Jeep was discovered abandoned on Nicola Street downtown the following day.

Police and Kamloops Search and Rescue crews did several searches in different areas of Kamloops for the two weeks following her disappearance without success, and the case remains an ongoing police investigation.

White’s aunt posted on social media on July 28 thanking the public for continuing to share Shannon’s story with a plea to share an online poster of her niece.

“1,000 days ago, on November 1, 2021 my niece, Shannon Doh White, went missing from Kamloops,” the post reads. “The next day, I shared a post of a missing poster of Shannon, created by her wonderful friends. That was the first time I asked everyone who saw Shannon’s story to please share. And you all did! And every time I shared Shannon’s story so did all of you! Thank You 1,000 times over.

“On that first day I never imagined that I would be here 1,000 days later still sharing Shannon’s story. But I am! And 1,000 days later still asking all of you to please continue to share Shannon’s missing poster. But here I am doing just that! We need to bring Shannon home.”

The public shared the post almost two thousand times.

Mike Ritcey is the operator of the Search, Recovery and Detection K9s of BC in Kamloops and has been searching for White since she first went missing with the help of his trained search dog Ranger. This past week, Ritcey and fellow search and rescue professional Randy MacLeod searched new areas for White following a delay from the heat wave earlier in July.

“When it’s that hot, it isn’t good for the dogs, they don’t do well in that, but we took up searching again on the first cooler day,” Ritcey said.

The men and their dogs are slowly covering ground and narrowing the vast search areas around Kamloops where White’s Jeep was last spotted travelling.

“We continue to get tips and follow up on them, every time we search, we can remove another small area, the search area is really big,” he said. “Our dogs will bring back clothing and indicate any remains.

“At least people know there are people out looking for loved ones. It’s important to keep shining a light on this case. Someone needs to come forward with information, it's only a matter of time."

Originally from Ontario, White was known to be sociable with many friends in the Jeep community in Kamloops who have conducted searches for her in the past, along with a memorial ride on the first anniversary of her disappearance.
