Police release composite sketch of suspect in sexual assault of teen at her home

NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. - Police have released a composite sketch of a man who is suspected of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at her home in North Vancouver.

RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks says the girl had just returned home after picking up her report card at school last week when a man knocked on the door and said her parents contracted him to do some yard work.

Marks says the suspect, who is believed to be about 45, knew the girl’s first name and convinced her to let him in the house, where he sexually assaulted her.

The teen's father says the incident has been traumatic for the whole family and that they want to ensure the same thing doesn't happen to anyone else.

Police are advising parents to talk to their kids about following safety precautions when no adults are home and someone knocks on the door.

Marks says older children or teens should check the peep hole and not open the door to anyone they don't know.
