A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of the Okanagan and the Boundary region.

Environment Canada issued the alert for the Central Okanagan, South Okanagan and Boundary.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain,” according to the alert.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”

Environment Canada issues severe thunderstorm watches when conditions are favourable for large hail, damaging winds, or torrential rainfall.
