A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the North Okanagan, including Vernon, the Shuswap and North Thompson.
Environment Canada says conditions are likely to create strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
"Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops," the watch bulletin says.

While the rain might be welcome, severe wind and lightning can only exacerbate current fire conditions. The area remains under a heat advisory and an air quality advisory remains in place for the North and South Thompson.
If conditions continue to look likely, the watch should be upgraded to a warning. For the latest information on the thunderstorm watch, go here.
