PENTICTON - There will be seven candidates on the ballot for Penticton school trustee in this Saturday's municipal election, and three have previous experience on school boards.

Shelley Clarke, Teresa Hebert, Derek Hurst, James Palanio, Barbra Sheppard, Tracy Van Raes and Dan Walton are running for four Penticton seats on the Okanagan-Skaha school board.

Clarke is an incumbent trustee looking for a second term. Hebert last served as a trustee on the school board in 2014 and also served 21 years on the North Okanagan-Shuswap school board. Sheppard is also an incumbent, having served on the Okanagan-Skaha board since 2014.

Hurst, Palanio, Van Raes and Walton are newcomers.

Four of the seven trustee positions are reserved for Penticton representatives with two trustees elected in Summerland and one trustee from the regional district electoral area that covers Kaleden, Lakeshore Highlands, Naramata, Penticton Indian Band and West Bench.

General voting day is this Saturday, Oct. 20.
