PENTICTON - Seniors interested in hearing from prospective candidates for mayor and city council will have a special opportunity to meet with them at an all candidates forum planned at the Penticton Seniors' Drop-In Centre next week.

The forum, hosted by the South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society and the Penticton Seniors' Drop-In Centre Society, is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to a media release.

Candidates will each have two minutes to outline their positions, followed by questions from the audience.

“The wave of baby boomer retirements in Canada is being felt in Penticton more than many B.C. communities," wellness society president Elmie Saaltink says in the release. "In the next 20 years, seniors 65 and older will account for 75 per cent of Penticton’s population growth and represent close to 40 per cent of the local population."

B.C. municipal election day is Oct. 20.
