After several delays pushed the item further back on the City of Vernon agenda, private security is now in the books.
Council agreed Monday, Oct. 29 to spend $33,125 for seasonal security from May 1 to Sept. 30, 2020.
According to the staff report, the agency will “deploy one security personnel in one security vehicle” seven days per week between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Council voted unanimously for Coun. Scott Anderson’s June 24 motion asking staff to review the cost of employing seasonal private security to work nights at hot spots around the city. Staff returned to council July 8 saying that administration needs further direction on several key points before they could proceed.
The report says seven bids were received, one of which was deemed non-compliant.
