RCMP are involved in a search for a missing Rossland skier today.

Trail and Greater District RCMP have activated search and rescue crews in support of an ongoing search for a missing man at Red Mountain Ski Resort, according to an RCMP media release.

Mark Anthony Gayowski, a 34-year-old Rossland area resident was reported missing to RCMP around 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Dec. 30. He failed to return from a run on the backside of Red Mountain and a limited search was initiated, hampered by darkness, dangerous terrain and heavy snow conditions.

Grayowski is described by police as a Caucasian male, 6' tall and weighing approximately 209 lbs. He was last seen wearing a light blue ski jacket, a pair of black ski pants, a brown toque and ski goggles.

A ground search resumed this morning, Dec. 31, involving snowmobiles and ski teams but weather continues to hamper search efforts.

Anyone with any information on Gayowski’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Trail and Greater RCMP at 250-364-2566.
