Blizzard warning continues Tuesday in South Dakota

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Parts of South Dakota remain under blizzard and winter storm warnings, with officials warning against travel.

The National Weather Service expects the snow to gradually diminish, but winds are expected to remain strong. School districts including Sioux Falls have cancelled classes.

Parts of North Dakota are dealing with heavy snowfall, including Kulm with a foot of snow and Williston with 11 inches. Williston State College remains closed. Many elementary and secondary schools are opening late. State transportation officials have lifted a no travel advisory for the state.

A 215-mile stretch of Interstate 90 in southeastern South Dakota remains closed. I-29 also is shut down from the North Dakota border to Iowa.

South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has closed state offices in 23 counties.
