Savona wildfire doubles in size, but under control

KAMLOOPS - A wildfire burning near Savona has doubled in size but is now under control, according to Kamloops Fire Centre.

The fire is estimated at two hectares in size, and now has 10 ground personnel working to douse the blaze. No structures are at risk.

The blaze broke out yesterday afternoon, July 21, and had a helicopter working with ground crews to contain the blaze. No air assistance is needed today.

The fire is located approximately 50 kilometres west of Kamloops, between Savona and the Walhachin.
