Salmon Arm police looking for suspects who fled overturned car

SALMON ARM - Salmon Arm police are searching for two suspects involved in a single car collision in Blind Bay yesterday.

According to an RCMP press release, Salmon Arm received arrived on the scene of an overturned vehicle in Blind Bay on Highway 1, just west of Hill Top Road, on July 29 at 12:45 p.m. Blind Bay is north of Salmon Arm.

The driver and passenger, both of whom are believed to be men known to the RCMP, fled on foot. Their vehicle had rolled over in a ditch.

Police determined that the men canvassed the neighbourhood for a phone to use to call for help. It's believed their vehicle contained stolen property and the suspects fled the area because one of the occupants has a warrant for his arrest from another B.C. jurisdiction. Neither man had a valid driver's license.

A Police Dog team from Vernon was brought in to search for the men. Officers are still investigating the incident.
