For striking someone with a baseball bat a Salmon Arm man was arrested and now faces charges.

Salmon Arm Mounties went to a Sparrow Road address May 26 just before 8 p.m., after a woman called them to say a man had threatened her and a relative with a gun.

"Police officers arrived on scene and through an investigation learned that the suspect had allegedly struck a 21-year-old man who lived at the home with a bat," according to an RCMP press release distributed by Staff Sgt. Scott West.

A search for the suspect was carried out and a 26-year-old Salmon Arm man was taken into police custody, on another residential property nearby. He was later released on strict conditions, and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

Although police did not locate any firearm during their search, investigators seized a baseball bat as part of the ongoing investigation.
