Salmon Arm grocery store windows targeted by vandal with pellet gun

Police are looking for one or more suspects in two incidents of pellet gun vandalism in Salmon Arm yesterday morning.

Police received a report at around 9:23 a.m. yesterday, Dec. 3, that the Askew’s Foods store, located in the 2700 block of 11 Avenue NE, had been vandalized overnight, according to an RCMP media release.

Four large exterior windows were broken, and investigators believe that they were hit by over a dozen pellets, RCMP said.

Just after 10 a.m. the same day, police received another report of vandalism, this time at the Askew’s Foods downtown location on Lakeshore Drive.

Officers determined that another eight windows were damaged by projectiles, believed to be fired from a pellet gun.

"We of course believe the two matters are linked to one another," Sgt. Scott West said in a release. "It is fortunate no one was injured as a result of this senseless act. Our investigators are now focusing on identifying the individual or individuals responsible for this."

Anyone with any video surveillance or dash camera footage that may help investigators is asked to contact police.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has any additional information is asked to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044, or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
