A Salmon Arm father who was the subject of an Amber Alert last month has been arrested amid a protest at a ministry building in Vancouver late last week.

Davis Lim, 39, was already under court orders barring him from the building where his child is kept under ministry care. He was arrested in front of the Vancouver facility on April 4, accused of breaching those conditions, according to a Vancouver Police Department news release.

Police said it was the same place where Lim is accused of abducting his own son last month, who is under a temporary custody order with the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

While already facing previous criminal charges, Lim is now accused of assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest and breaching his conditions. Police said he was with three other adults and several children, where they appeared to be protesting outside the family care centre.

Police issued an Amber Alert for Lim and his son Theo after he fled the facility with the child during a visit, March 13.

He told iNFOnews.ca he tried to evade police, but he was arrested later that day at a restaurant.

Citing religious reasons, Lim has taken a stance against some of the treatment proposed by doctors for Theo's genetic disorder and instead proposing homeopathic remedies.

The disagreements ultimately led to the ministry taking interim care of Theo, which Lim has so far failed to overturn.

Lim and his family reside in Salmon Arm, but they have temporarily lived in Vancouver due to Theo's care needs.
