Salmon Arm bank robbed at gunpoint

A man who robbed a Salmon Arm bank at gunpoint is on the lam.

Salmon Arm RCMP officers were called to reports of a robbery at a downtown financial institution on Ross Street Monday, Oct. 21, at about 4:10 p.m. RCMP do not say which financial institution.

Despite extensive patrols, the suspect - a tall man with a skinny build who was wearing all black save for two white stripes on his track pants and a balaclava with sunglasses covering his face - was not located.

Police did not say if the man, who pointed a gray-coloured handgun at the clerk and demanded cash, escaped with any money.

The RCMP investigation continues as police examine video from the scene and other nearby locations.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect is asked to call the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
