Rutland sidewalk death called a homicide

KELOWNA - RCMP is calling the death of 32-year-old Christopher Ausman a homicide.

Police were initially calling the death ‘suspicious’ despite finding him in a pool of blood.

The body was found by a member of the RCMP on the sidewalk in the 100 block of Highway 33 in Rutland at 2:06 a.m. Saturday.

memorial page has been created on Facebook and Ausman's family and friends have been sharing pictures and memories. According to Facebook, he is survived by a young daughter.

Police want anyone with information about the case, or anyone who had been in contact with Ausman during the evening of Friday, Jan. 24 or the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 25, to call the Kelowna RCMP Tip Line at 250-470-6236.
