Rollover on Tranquille Road in Kamloops sends 5 teens to hospital

KAMLOOPS — Five teenagers were injured in a single-vehicle rollover on Tranquille Road in Kamloops just before lunch hour today.

Police were called to the crash just east of the turnoff to Tranquille Farms today, March 14, at around 11:45 a.m., according to an RCMP media release.

The SUV was travelling eastbound towards Kamloops when the driver failed to negotiate a corner causing the vehicle to go into the ditch where it rolled several times, police say.

"There were five teenagers in the vehicle, four were able to exit the vehicle on their own, one had to be extracted by Kamloops Fire Rescue," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said in the release.

All occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

"Speed is believed to be a contributing factor," Shelkie says.
