The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Calgary Hitmen 6-2 on Saturday night in Calgary.

The Rockets continued their strong December play on Saturday night controlling much of the contest.

Kelowna collected a first period goal from Jake Kryski. The Rockets and Hitmen were knotted at 1's after the first.

In the second period the Rockets opened up the offence. The Hitmen struck first, going ahead by one, but the Rockets responded with three before the period was out. Goals came from Jake Kryski, Kyle Topping, and Riley Stadel. All three second period goals came on the powerplay for the Rockets.

The third was a back and forth defensive battle but Rockets forward Kyle Topping scored his second of the night to take the life out of the Hitmen. Nick Merkley added a late third period marker.

The Rockets improve to 21-12-2-0 on the season.

Brodan Salmond improved to 6-4-1-0 on the year.

The Rockets are back at it tomorrow for their final game before Christmas when they have an afternoon match against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
