Rockets fall to Blazers 3-2 at home

KELOWNA - The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 on Friday night in Prospera Place.

The Rockets out-shot the Blazers 13-5 in the opening frame but trailed 1-0 after one.

28 seconds into the second period Lucas Johansen ripped one top shelf over Blazers backstop Connor Ingram's shoulder for his third of the season and the game was even at 1-1. The Blazers would score again to regain the lead, but before the period was out Calvin Thurkauf responded for the Rockets drawing the club back to even at 2-2. The score would remain tied heading into the third.

Rudolfs Balcers of the Blazers scored his second of the evening in the third to pull the Blazers ahead one more time. The score would hold at 3-2 for the rest of the night.

Michael Herringer fell to 20-11-3-0 on the season despite a solid effort with some flashy saves.

The Rockets drop to 27-18-4-0 on the year.

The Rockets are back in action tomorrow night when they host the Portland Winterhawks for the second time in seven days.

On Sunday the Rockets will be at Prospera Place from noon-1:30pm for the BCAA skate. Bring your skates and join the Rockets in some Sunday afternoon fun.

The Rockets next home game following this weekend is Wednesday, February 1st when they play host to the Calgary Hitmen.
