KAMLOOPS - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 on Friday night in Kamloops, opening up a home and home series between the two WHL rivals with a win.
Tyson Baillie scored the game-winning goal late in the third period, snapping a 2-2 tie and improving the Rockets record to 18-3-0-2 on the season.
Jordon Cooke was excellent in net for Kelowna, allowing just two goals on 39 shots on net in a first-star performance. The Blazers outshot Kelowna 39-36 in the game.
Zach Franko and Ryan Olsen had staked Kelowna to a 2-0 lead before Kamloops scored two straight to tie the game.
The Rockets and Blazers will meet again on Saturday night in Kelowna.
