KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Victoria Royals 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night in Prospera Place.

The Rockets opened up the scoring at 5:08 of the first when Reid Gardiner finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play on the power play for his 16th of the season. That goal extends Gardiner's current point streak to 15 games (10G, 11A for 21 points in that time). Regan Nagy replied for the Royals at 7:53. The teams were tied 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.

At 1:48 of the middle frame Dante Hannoun pulled the Royals ahead by one. The Royals held the lead until Dillon Dube made a nice redirection past netminder Dylan Myskiw for his 18th. Then at 18:15 team Captain Rodney Southam pounced on a rebound on the power play for his 17th of the year and the Rockets took a 3-2 lead into the final stanza.

The score stayed at 3-2 for much of the period but at 12:50 Hannoun scored his second of the night on a Royals power play and the game was tied at 3-3. Everything stayed knotted at 3's and the game was headed to overtime.

The Rockets took a power play into the overtime period and it took just 19 seconds for Dillon Dube to end Victoria's night. 4-3 Rockets final in overtime.

Dillon Dube was named first star after collecting two goals and two assists in the victory. Reid Gardiner (1G, 1A), Cal Foote (2A), and Calvin Thurkauf (2A) all had two point nights.

Michael Herringer improves to 31-14-3-0 on the season after stopping 24 of 27 shots he faced. The Rockets outshot the Royals 35-27.

The Rockets advance to 43-21-5-0 on the year.

The Rockets are back in action on Wednesday when the Everett Silvertips come to town for the last time of the regular season.
