Rockets and Tommy Gun's kick off Movember tonight

The Kelowna Rockets are pleased to be partnering with Tommy Gun's Original Barbershop in a month long fund-raising and awareness campaign for Movember that will kick off tonight at the Rockets home game against Red Deer.

Kelowna Rockets players and coaches will be growing moustaches for the month of Movember and are encouraging fans to do the same, to shine the spotlight on men's health issues, including prostate cancer.

Fans are encouraged to donate to Movember through the Tommy Gun's Kelowna team page (http://ca.movember.com/team/1167553) or in store.

"We're excited to have a local partner like Tommy Gun's Original Barbershop to help spread the news and join us for our annual tradition of Movember," said Rockets' director of marketing Anne-Marie Hamilton. "We encourage our fans to support Movember by donating through Tommy Gun's Movember web site."

Updated Rockets player pictures will be posted on the Tommy Gun's Movember link and Facebook page throughout the month of November as players and coaches grow their moustaches in support of issues like men's mental health and prostate cancer.

The Rockets and Tommy Gun's will kick off their Movember campaign on Wednesday night as the Rockets host the Red Deer Rebels at 7 p.m. at Prospera Place.

Tommy Gun's will have a booth set up at the game , handing out brochures and information about Movember.

Fans can get their pictures taken showing off their moustaches and Tommy Gun's will be happy to feature these images on the Tommy Gun's Movember page.

"Partnering with Movember has been an incredible initiative for us", said Doreen Belliveau, Manager of Communications and Public Relations for Tommy Gun's Original Barbershop. "In addition to providing support to this worthy cause, in just the few short days the 2013 campaign has been active, we have received overwhelming support from our stores, their customers, local business and other organizations. Movember has tapped into the comaraderie and good will that exists in the community and we expect to see this grow even more throughout the rest of the month."
