Space Queen will be headlining a benefit show in downtown Kelowna on Saturday night.

The female trio will be one of five rock 'n' roll bands performing at Runaways Lounge to raise money for the Kelowna Women’s Shelter.

The other four bands will be Sweetbeast, Down the Lees, Timja Spy, and Stone Tortoise.

“It’ll be motorcycles and skateboards and tattoos – that kind of crowd,” Sweetbeast drummer Jackson Harlton said.

Harlton says audiences can expect to hear fuzz rock and stoner rock all night long.

“Etherial guitar intros with psychedelic tones overlaying," he said. "Nothing too complicated, it’s meant to be dance-y and enjoyed in a bar.”

Raising money for a women’s shelter is a cause Harlton feels strongly about. As a kid he remembers his mom had to go rescue her friend from abusive relationship.

“From then on I’ve always recognized the value of them for a safe place for women.”

Tickets and merch sales will be donated to the cause. The show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is $15 in advance thru this link or $20 at the door.
