Road rage incident ends with one man shoved into oncoming pick-up truck

SHAWNIGAN LAKE, B.C. - RCMP on Vancouver Island are investigating how a 37-year-old man was pushed into oncoming traffic during a roadside fight between two irate drivers.

Shawnigan Lake Mounties say the altercation happened on Highway 1 about seven kilometres southeast of the village when the two men began exchanging insults as they drove because one allegedly cut off the other.

Police say both men got out of their cars at a stoplight and began arguing and that's when the 37-year-old hit the other in the leg with a club.

The 38-year-old man allegedly retaliated by pushing his attacker into traffic as a slow moving pick up truck passed.

The man injured by the truck was treated at the scene by paramedics and released.

The other man initially fled the accident scene, but later contacted police to explain his role in the encounter.
