Several road improvement projects in the Kamloops and Logan Lake areas are now complete.

"Crews have wrapped up work at several locations in the south Thompson and Nicola valleys, bringing smoother road surfaces and safer conditions for motorists and cyclists in this region," said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone. "These roads serve local communities as well as resource industries, so it's important that this work is completed before the winter season."

These resurfacing projects include:

  • The Trans-Canada Highway westbound between Springhill Overpass and Sagebrush Overpass
  • 13 kilometres of Long Lake Road near Kamloops
  • 27 kilometres of Highway 97C from Logan Lake west to the Highway Valley Copper Mine
  • 13.5 kilometres of Highway 8 from the Coldwater Interchange at Highway 5 through Merritt

"These improvements cap off another season of resurfacing and repaving in the Nicola Valley and South Thompson," said MLA for Fraser-Nicola Jackie Tegart. "We'll continue to work hard to make travel safer and more efficient for local residents and industry."

These projects are part of B.C. on the Move, the B.C. government's 10- year plan for the improvement of the province's transportation network. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will invest almost $2.7 billion over the next three years to improve British Columbia's transportation network.
