Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has cancelled his upcoming performance in Penticton because he has COVID-19.

Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band had been scheduled to play Penticton's South Okanagan Events Centre, Oct. 9, but announced today, Oct. 3 that his tour has now been cancelled.

"Ringo hopes to resume as soon as possible and is recovering at home," a South Okanagan Events Centre media release says. "As always, he and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them back out on the road soon."

Ringo had been due to play two U.S. shows followed by five in Canada before he was forced to cancel the concerts.

For Penticton, customers who purchased tickets with a credit card will have the ticket price and the per-ticket fee automatically refunded, Oct. 5. The South Okanagan Events Centre says this could take up to two weeks. Cash and debit purchases go only be refunded in person.

Customers have until Nov. 30 to get a refund.

The media release does not contain any news on whether or not the tour dates will be rescheduled.
