Revelstoke RCMP, coroner investigating after woman's body found in fire

Dual investigations are underway by Revelstoke RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service following a fatal residential fire in Revelstoke on the weekend.

RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating a fatal house fire in Revelstoke.

Police were called to assist the Revelstoke Fire Department around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 after fire broke out in a residence in the 1600 block of Douglas Street in Revelstoke.

“Fire officials located a deceased woman inside the home during a search of the structure,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a release issued this afternoon, Oct. 26. “Although the investigation is ongoing, police do not believe criminality was involved in this tragic blaze,” O’Donaghey said.

The B.C. Coroners Service is also conducting a concurrent, fact-finding investigation.

The deceased’s name will not be released due to privacy concerns.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Revelstoke RCMP at 250-491-4317.
