Another Interior ski hill has opened for the season and its first day went well.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort celebrated opening day yesterday, Nov. 27, joining Big White Ski Resort and Sun Peaks Resort in the Interior.

“We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for opening day and for adapting to our new policies and procedures like absolute champs,” according to Revelstoke resort’s Facebook page.

Mask use in all indoor public spaces is in effect from the provincial health officer as COVID-19 cases continue to climb across the province.

This week, Dr. Bonnie Henry encouraged residents to visit their local ski hills. Although there are no travel orders in effect, Henry has highly discouraged travel outside of cities and had mandated that residents stay within their home bubbles at least until Dec. 7.

“To ensure we all enjoy a long and healthy ski season, we hope everyone continues to be kind and respectful and makes sure to wear a face covering and keep an adequate distance from one another,” according to the resort’s post.

Big White Ski Resort temporarily revoked three seasons' passes last weekend after holders refused to wear masks.

SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon opens for the alpine season Dec. 4 and Apex Mountain near Penticton opens Dec. 5.
