A former RCMP sergeant has received acknowledgement from the Queen following publication of her most recent book.
Retired RCMP Sgt. Katherine Hansen is a also a Penticton author. She recently received a thank you letter from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who got a copy of Hansen’s children’s book, “Harry the Musical Ride Horse.”
"Her Majesty was very pleased to hear from you and appreciated your kind thought in sending her a copy of your special story,” the letter stated.
Sgt. Hansen met the Queen while performing with the RCMP Musical Ride at the Royal Winter Horse Show in 2000. Hansen was aware of the Queen’s fondness for the RCMP Musical Ride, and the they both share a deep love of horses.
"I thought the Queen may enjoy the story of Harry," Hansen said in a press release issued by Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey today, Nov. 12.
"I wanted to extend my thanks to her for the gracious hospitality that she extended to the Ride when we stayed at Windsor Castle. I am completely thrilled to receive a letter from Her Majesty and know that she has read my book," she said.
Hansen has published two children’s books about Harry, a horse on the RCMP Musical Ride. She has a third book coming out in December.
