The Fraser Valley Regional District is warning residents to use their cell phones east of Hope today as landline phone services are down.

"The outage is for landline service only - cell phone service is not compromised. Internet services in these areas may also be affected," according to the regional district's press release.

Communities impacted by the outage include Boston Bar, Spuzzum, Spences Bridge, Manning Park, and Sunshine Valley. Parts of Hope may also be impacted by the outage.

Anyone who needs to contact 9-1-1 should use a cell phone to make the call, according to the district.

"Emergency responders including the RCMP have been notified of the outage. Technicians are working on the issue but there is no estimation for when repairs will be completed at this time."

Updates on the situation will be shared via social media @FraserValleyRD and on the regional district's website.
