A repeat violent offender is expected to return to the Okanagan after he ran from a recovery home in Surrey.

John Aronson, 35, removed his ankle monitor and left the home. He has a long history with law enforcement, especially Kelowna RCMP, and police expect he'll be back again.

His most recent set of charges include armed robbery and other firearms charges from July 2022. Kelowna RCMP warn Aronson is considered dangerous and shouldn't be approached.

He's 35 years old and described as Caucasian with multiple tattoos. He's 5'7", 155 lbs, with dark brown hair and brown eyes, according to a Kelowna RCMP news release.

Police are asking the public to call 911 if he's seen in the area. The news release didn't say when he left the Surrey home.

The Kelowna criminal is known for two high profile arrests, including one where he was shot by the RCMP Emergency Response Team and taken down by dogs after a road rage incident and chase in 2019.

He promised to change his ways when he was sentenced for that incident.

“Almost dying was an eye-opener for me,” Aronson said in court Sept. 23, 2019 as he was sentenced to time-served to charges including flight from police and dangerous driving.

He's been in court for dozens of criminal charges, convicted of 30 before 2018.
