Regional Quality of Life survey closes on June 7, 2013

The community interest in the Regional Quality of Life Survey has been incredible, with over 1,000 surveys returned in the last three weeks.

With less than a week before the survey closes on June 7, 2013, Anthony Kittel, the Regional Growth Strategy Coordinator “is encouraging everyone to take 10 minutes to complete a survey and prove your opinion of quality of life in this region.”

The Regional District of North Okanagan thanks all of the organizations, governments and individuals that have promoted this survey, including the City of Armstrong, District of Coldstream, City of Enderby, Village of Lumby, Township of Spallumcheen, City of Vernon, all the North Okanagan branches of the Okanagan Regional Library, Community Futures, the Salvation Army, the Social Planning Council of North Okanagan, the North Okanagan Naturalist Club, Whitevalley Community Resource Centre and many others.

The Regional District of North Okanagan would like to acknowledge the incredible initiative of the Clarence Fulton Secondary Global Education class, and their teachers Murray Sasges and Alan Gee. Global Education took the survey to high school classes throughout School District #22 and facilitated the completion of over 350 surveys by North Okanagan youth. The youth voice is essential to this region and the Global Education class should be congratulated for their many successful efforts in providing that voice.

The survey will be one of many pieces of information collected by the Regional District to evaluate the effectiveness of the Regional Growth Strategy and assist identifying regional priorities. The results of the survey will be shared with our municipal partners and any other interested organization. The Regional District plans to repeat this survey in future years to gauge progress on improving the quality of life in the region and Regional Growth Strategy implementation.

All residents who complete the survey will be entered into a draw to win an iPod Nano or a $200.00 gift card, as well as a chance to win 1 of 10 $25 gift cards from the store of their choice. To be eligible, residents must submit surveys before 4:30 pm on June 7, 2013. Winners will be announced on June 30, 2013.

The survey can be completed online at www.rdno.ca/qols or paper copies are available at the Regional District office, municipal offices and local Okanagan Regional Library branches.
