PENTICTON  - The regional district’s new financial officer brings a wealth of experience to the regional government of the South Okanagan and Similkameen.

Maureen Hayter has been appointed Manager of Finance, the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen announced today, March 8, in a news release.

Hayter brings 15 years’ experience in local government finance and public sector accounting to the regional district. Her most recent position was Director of Finance for Okanagan Skaha School District 67, a position she has held for the past six years.

Prior to that, Hayter was Deputy Treasurer at the City of Penticton. She also held management and supervisory positions at the City of Yellowknife and in the private sector.

“We sincerely welcome Maureen to the RDOS and believe with her level of experience and local knowledge she will be able to jump right into the role of assisting the board and staff with all finance department initiatives,” said Chief Administrative Officer Bill Newell, who also noted Hayter holds a local government administrative certificate in addition to being an accredited Certified Professional Accountant.

Hayter joins the regional district on May 2.
