The regional district’s emergency operations centre is also reminding residents to continue using caution while approaching the foreshore of rivers and lakes, and to avoid standing on tiger dams or sandbags due to the possibility of their contents shifting.

Residents should continue to leave sandbags in place until directed otherwise by their local authority.

Municipalities are in planning stages for cleanup after the flood threat has subsided. Measures are being put into place to deal with sandbags and their contents, as well as flood debris. Residents are asked to comply with local instructions for sandbag disposal.

Special requests for sandbag removals will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Contact the emergency operations centre at 250-492-0237 for more information.
