PENTICTON - The clock is ticking for filmmakers of all experience to submit entries to this year’s third annual ReelPeachFest Film Festival.
The film festival runs prior to Peachfest’s nightly entertainment offerings at Okanagan Lake Park, between Aug. 9 and 13.
Submissions of one to three minute short films featuring Okanagan liquid libations or Okanagan experiences are shown in the run up to the evening’s main act.
Organizer Andrew Jakubeit says the deadline for submission is Aug. 6 at midnight, which makes for a tight timeline to organize the event.
“We don’t really know how many submissions will come in until the cut-off, which makes organizing the event somewhat stressful. We are pushing for more creative mini-epics about the Okanagan versus corporate infomercials,” he says, noting so far there have been some impressive entries submitted.
Entry is open to all ages and abilities. First prize is $1,000, including a weekend getaway to the Penticton Lakeside Resort, second prize is $500, third prize is $250 and the fan favourite category is also worth $250.
Online voting for fan favourite opens Aug. 9 and closes Aug. 12.
