Five records for the warmest Jan. 29 ever recorded were set in the Thompson-Okanagan yesterday Jan. 29.
Kamloops reached 11.8 Celsius, breaking its 1988 record of 11 C, according to Environment Canada.
Penticton came in at 12.8 C, shattering its previous record of 11.1 C set in 1974 while Osoyoos reached 12.4 C, breaking its 1974 record of 11.7 C.
Summerland’s high of 12 C broke its 1953 record high for the day of 11.1 C while Merritt reached 12.7 C versus 12 C in 1989.
Kamloops is forecast to reach 13 C today before cooling gradually to 10 C on Friday then dropping closer to freezing on the weekend.
There should be a mix of sun and cloud today followed by a 60-70% chance of showers Wednesday and Thursday.
The normal high temperature for Jan. 30 in Kamloops is 1 C.
Penticton could reach 12 C today before dropping to 8 C on Friday, with showers likely most of the week.
Kelowna and Vernon are looking a highs of only 8 C today with a 30% chance of showers tomorrow.
Almost three dozen records for the warmest Jan. 29 were broken in BC and another dozen in Alberta. The warmest of those records was 18.2 C in Abbotsford, smashing its 1960 record of 15.6 C.
