VANCOUVER - Someone in British Columbia is $21 million richer after purchasing a winning lotto 6/49 ticket online.

The ticket was bought on PlayNow.com for the Aug. 13 lotto 6/49 draw.

This ticket squashes the previous Canadian lottery prize record of $7.6 million on a lotto 6/49 ticket won in Nanaimo.

Once the winner comes forward, the city where the ticket was purchased will be released.

The odds of winning a lotto 6/49 jackpot is one in 13,983,816.

If the winner is from the Thompson-Okanagan, they will be in good company. There has been a large number of local lotto winners already in 2016.
