North Okanagan Traffic Services were busy handing out tickets on Highway 97 between Vernon and Kelowna Friday afternoon.
The officers were out with their Lazer Speed equipment near Crystal Waters Road.
For the third Friday in a row, the RCMP impounded drivers' vehicles for excessive speed. This time two drivers were caught. One was going 50 km over the 90 km speed limit and the other had the peddle to the metal, doing 47 km over the limit.
According to RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk, 30 drivers were written up for speeding in a two hour period. One person received a ticket for not wearing a seat belt.
Molendyk also is reminding everyone that they'll have extra mounties on the roads for the Canada Day long weekend. The members will be making an effort to keep you safe. Officers with the North Okanagan Traffic Services are asking drivers to watch their speed so their cars don't end up in the impound lot.
And as always, please don't drink and drive.
