The COVID-19 pandemic hasn't curbed the need for enforcement when it comes to impaired driving, according to Kamloops RCMP.
Police want to remind motorists to drive safely as they have been surprised by the number of impaired drivers on the road despite nightclubs and pubs closing earlier, according to an RCMP media release.
RCMP have taken 31 drivers off the road for being impaired by alcohol or drugs since Dec. 1 in Kamloops.
Of the 31 apprehended, 15 received a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition as well as having their vehicle impounded for 30 days.
RCMP said officers will continue enforcement, intercepting impaired drivers throughout the holidays.
Those consuming liquor or drugs are encouraged to plan ahead with a designated driver, by taking a taxi or by using local transit.
