RCMP seize cash and drugs after searching Kelowna homes

March 05, 2020 - 9:16 AM

Kelowna RCMP officers found fentanyl, cocaine and cash after executing search warrants in residences related to suspected drug trafficking.

On Feb. 27, officers executed search warrants at residences on the 400-block of Calder Avenue and the 1100-block of Sunset Avenue in Kelowna, according to the RCMP in a news release. “These warrants were related to an active criminal investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the area.”

During the search, police seized a quantity of suspected illicit drugs, believed to be fentanyl, cocaine and a significant amount of money, said Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, in the news release.

“Two people were initially taken into custody during the execution of the search warrant. The matter will be submitted to Public Prosecution Service of Canada for consideration of charges,” according to the press release.

The Kelowna RCMP Drug Section continues to target those involved in street-level drug trafficking who are negatively impacting the Kelowna community, Cpl. Jeff Carroll, noncommissioned-officer-in-charge of the Drug Section, said in the news release.
