A man found unresponsive in a school field near Penticton Secondary, and was later pronounced dead in hospital, has been identified as 22-year-old Taig Savage.

The Penticton man was taken to hospital on Sept. 5 where he was pronounced dead. His death is being investigated as a homicide, according to Penticton RCMP.

"We are releasing Taig’s identity and photos in hopes that it will assist in our investigation," Penticton RCMP Supt. Brian Hunter said in a press release issued today, Sept. 13.

Savage was last seen walking around the 100-block of Eckhart Avenue wearing a hooded sweatshirt and grey pants in the early morning hours of Sept. 5, RCMP said.

Police were called to the area on Sept. 5 just before 6 a.m. to assist paramedics already on the scene.

When officers arrived they found Taig was unresponsive and suffering from "critical injuries," RCMP said. Officers remained on the scene to investigate the area.

Penticton RCMP are seeking information from anyone who witnessed Taig in the Eckhart Avenue area on the morning of Sept. 5.
