Kelowna RCMP are hoping the public can assist them in identifying a suspect following a suspicious fire at a Kelowna financial institution.

RCMP were called to assist the Kelowna Fire Department when a fire broke out in the front lobby of a financial institution in the 1800 block of Dilworth Drive around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 22, according to an RCMP media release.

Firefighters were actively working the blaze when police arrived on scene.

“RCMP has initiated an investigation and have reason to believe that the fire was deliberately set,” Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in the release. "A witness saw a man fleeing the fire scene on foot. Thankfully, no one was injured. We are now appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact us.”

Police describe the suspect a man wearing a grey hoody.

If you have any information regarding this matter and have not yet spoken to police, or you have any information that may assist our investigators, you are urged to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
