RCMP officer under investigation after car crash in Okanagan Falls

Police charged a man and a woman following a police chase of a stolen vehicle through South Okanagan backroads last week.

An investigation has been launched following a serious car crash near Okanagan Falls last night.

The Independent Investigations Office is looking into the incident that happened just before 7 p.m. yesterday, July 10, when a B.C. Highway Patrol officer was responding to a call in Okanagan Falls.

The collision happened at the intersection of Maple Street and 10 Avenue in the Okanagan Falls area.

The two occupants of the civilian vehicle were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries.

Both the RCMP and the investigations officer are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact the Independent Investigations Office at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form on its website, here.

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in B.C. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
