KELOWNA – A spectacle known around the world is coming to Kelowna this summer.

The RCMP Musical Ride combines real members of the RCMP and their horses in a choreographed demonstration of control, timing and coordination.

The Musical Ride performs in up to 50 communities across Canada between May and October, raising thousands for local charities and non-profit organizations, according to a media release.

The Musical Ride provides the opportunity to experience the heritage and traditions of the RCMP, the release says, adding the riders act as ambassadors of goodwill who promote the RCMP’s image throughout Canada and all over the world.

Kelowna detachment Supt. Brent Mundle is also co-chair of the Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation Musical Ride Committee. He describes the event as "iconic."

"We are ecstatic to have secured a spot, for a stop here in Kelowna," he says in a media release.

All proceeds raised during both events go directly to support children in medical, physical or traumatic crisis across South Eastern British Columbia.

The Ride, sponsored by TD Bank Group, will perform twice - in the afternoon and again during the evening at Kelowna’s Prospera Place on Aug. 9. Tickets go on sale March 29 and are available here or by calling (250) 762-5050.

The performances will be in support of RCMP charity Cops for Kids.
