RCMP issue appeal for info in killing of wild horses near Kamloops

BC RCMP are looking for more tips from the public in the suspicious killing of 17 wild horses west of Kamloops.

Police say in a media release issued today, June 5, they've received "considerable" information from tips but they're appealing to the public again.

"We're appealing once more to anyone who may have information that could provide critical in advancing the investigation. We need your help to bring charges against those responsible and ensure they are successfully prosecuted," RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said in the release.

On March 10, 17 horses were found shot to death on Crown land north of Walhachin. They were part of a herd known to be of cultural significance to the Skeetchestn Indian Band.

"The Skeetchestn Band has been a vital partner in our efforts, working closely with us to progress the investigation," RCMP livestock investigator Cpl. Cory Lepine said in the release. "Their cooperation and support have been invaluable."

Although police say they have received information, suggesting they've made progress in the investigation, they offered no knew information about the shooting in the news release.
