February 05, 2020 - 3:23 PM

Police have made an arrest in connection to the threats made to the students and staff at Kelowna Christian School this morning.

RCMP say just before 9 a.m. today, Feb. 5, Kelowna Christian School on Benvoulin Road received a threat toward students and staff by a male. The school was placed in a hold and secure.

“As a result of the police investigation, members of the Kelowna RCMP School Resource Unit were able to identify where the call was placed and the individual who made the threat,” Const. Lesley Smith with the Kelowna RCMP School Resource Unit said in a media release.

“The suspect was identified as a youth in a neighbouring community and he was subsequently located and arrested for his actions.”

Once the arrest was made, police lifted the hold and secure, and students were dismissed early.

Charges of uttering threats and public mischief are being considered.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.crimestoppers.net.
