Mounties are investigating the cause of a suspicious fire sparked in the alley behind a Leon Avenue nightclub.

Just after 1:30 p.m. Jan. 25, RCMP were called to assist the Kelowna Fire Department with a structure fire in the alleyway behind the 200 block of Leon Avenue in Kelowna, near Gotham Nightclub. When officers arrived on the scene, the fire was still active.

“RCMP have initiated an investigation and officers are working to determine if the fire was deliberately set. As this is still an active scene, was are asking the public to stay away from the area,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a press release.

“Thankfully it does not appear that anyone was injured. We are now appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact us.”
