KAMLOOPS - RCMP officers were on scene at a North Shore home Monday to investigate an alleged home invasion that took place around 5 p.m.

Kamloops RCMP were called to a residence in the 300 block of Fortune Drive on Monday, March 30, for a report of a home invasion with a weapon in progress. The initial report was for two males armed with a handgun entering the property and trying to steal items from the victim.

Four police officers, clad in bulletproof vests, were seen at the residence located on the corner of Fort Avenue and Fortune Drive. The canine unit was called to the scene and two witnesses were interviewed.

While a source told InfoNews.ca two suspects who allegedly invaded the home used a firearm and both were in custody RCMP have since confirmed the report of the handgun but said the suspects and the weapon were not located.

RCMP Sgt. Karen Delorey says the incident is believed to be targeted and the investigation continues.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) to remain anonymous.
