RCMP investigating several targeted shootings in Merritt and area

Merritt RCMP are investigating after multiple shootings early this morning, shootings police say were targeted.

Officers are investigating shootings in Merritt, Coldwater and the Mamette Lake Road areas, which were all between 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. today, Nov. 15, according to an RCMP news release.

"We are actively investigating what happened," Sgt. Josh Roda said in the release. "We do not believe there is any further risk to the public and will have a significant police presence in these areas as we move forward with the investigations."

RCMP don't say exactly where the shootings in Merritt and Coldwater were, nor does it say exactly how many shootings there were.

Merritt RCMP also did not say whether anyone was shot.
