LOGAN LAKE — Mounties within Central Interior Traffic Services are investigating a deadly collision that left one woman dead on Highway 97D near Logan Lake over the weekend.
Logan Lake RCMP received a report of a fatal crash on Saturday, April 13 just before 11 a.m., according to a RCMP media release. Officers say they responded to the crash on Highway 97D near the Highland Valley Ranch, about 10 kilometres east of Logan Lake.
“Upon arrival police found that a grey Acura Integra had left the highway and gone down an embankment,” RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Mike Halskov says in a release. “The lone female occupant had been ejected from the vehicle and was deceased at the scene.”
According to police, the vehicle was not visible from the highway and the crash was not witnessed. Police believe the collision occurred sometime between the afternoon of April 12 and April 13.
Traffic services, the South East District Collision Analysis and the B.C.’s Coroners’ Service continue to investigate the crash. At this time, police believe a lack of seatbelt use and possible impairment are believed to be contributing factors.
The woman’s family has been notified.
